2015 Blackshirt Invite Champions
2014 Squad, 4-3 in Classic Eight
2014 Senior Night vs Burlington
Blackshirt Tennis has had a lot to celebrate over the past few years. Waukesha South runs a no cut tennis program with about 40 girls participating each year. We welcome all players - from state ranked tournament players to those who have never played before.
The girls team reached the top of the Classic Eight Conference in the 2009 and 2010 seasons, winning the dual season and conference tournaments. Since 2009, the Blackshirts have sent 11 individuals to state - Kassie Alexander, Katy Allen, Brooke Elder, Kelly Johnson, Karlie Laveau, Rachel Muelrath, Rina Niehoff, Carley Schreiber, Erica Van Riper, Jaeda Walsh and Ellie Wilkie.
Rebounding nicely after our conference championship seasons, our 2013 seniors were passed the torch as young, somewhat inexperienced sophomores. Fast forward two years, where we now stand at 6-1 in conference and 16-4 overall. The girls won the Blackshirt Quad and Oak Creek Quad, and won all seven first round matches at the varsity conference tournament. Plus, the girls qualified three for the individual state tennis tournament in Madison. Simply put, an incredible 2013 season!
Graduating another 9 seniors, our 2014 season was capped by incredible leadership from our 3 seniors - Maggie Liu, Ellie Trewyn and Jessica Lewis - and incredible performances by our star studded sophomore and freshman classes. We again finished above .500 in the Classic Eight, in the top half at the Conference Tourney and by sending another playing to the State Tournament. We capped the 2015 season by qualifying three more players for the individual state tournament. Carley Schreiber, Jaeda Walsh, and Rina Niehoff all qualified out right with first round wins at the WIAA sectional. The future is bright.
